Privacy Policy

ITician Pty Ltd (ABN 67 660 266 339) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and in the course of providing our services, how we use and protect it, and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, together with any additional obligations that apply to us under a client or Australian Government contract.

Information collected through this website

Through the contact form on this website we collect your full name, work email address, organisation name, and the content of the message you send us. We do not ask for payment details, identity documents, or sensitive information through this website, and we ask that you do not include such information in your message. Enquiries are sent to our business email address and are not added to any marketing list.

Information collected in the course of business

In running our business and delivering services we may also collect:

  • personal and contact details of client and agency representatives we work with;
  • curricula vitae, work history, qualifications, references and right-to-work information from candidates and prospective contractors;
  • names, contact details, and engagement details of subcontractors and their personnel;
  • and information about our own staff and directors.

Where we collect information about a person from someone other than that person — for example a CV supplied by a recruiter — we take reasonable steps to ensure they are aware this policy applies.

Recruitment and personnel information

We use candidate, contractor and subcontractor information to assess suitability for a role or engagement, to put forward proposals to clients, to verify credentials and eligibility to work, and to administer an engagement once it begins. We disclose this information to a client or agency only where it is necessary for a proposal or engagement, and only with the individual's knowledge. Unsuccessful candidate information is retained for a reasonable period and then deleted, unless the individual asks us to keep it on file.

Government and client engagements

Our work for government and enterprise clients is technical and advisory — strategy, architecture, engineering and delivery. We do not ordinarily access, collect or hold personal information belonging to an agency's systems or customers. Where an engagement does require access to such information, we handle it strictly in accordance with the agency's directions, the terms of the relevant contract, and any applicable Australian Government security and privacy requirements.

Technical information and cookies

Our website is hosted on a third-party platform which, like most web hosting services, automatically records technical information such as IP addresses, browser type, device type, referring pages and pages visited. This is used for security, diagnostics and understanding general site usage. This website uses only the cookies necessary for the site to function. We do not run advertising or marketing tracking pixels on this website and we do not use it to build advertising profiles. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.

Why we collect personal information

We use personal information to respond to your enquiry, assess and staff engagements, provide and manage our services, communicate with you about work we are doing or proposing to do, maintain our business records, and meet our legal, contractual and regulatory obligations. We do not sell personal information.

Who we share it with

We do not disclose personal information to third parties except where it is necessary to operate our business or where the law requires or permits it. This may include our website hosting and email providers, professional advisers such as our accountants and lawyers, clients and agencies in connection with a proposal or engagement, and government authorities where disclosure is required by law. Where we engage subcontractors, we require them to protect personal information on the same terms we do.

Where your information is held

Where a client or government contract requires personal information to be stored and processed in Australia, we meet that requirement and do not transfer the relevant information offshore.

Our website hosting platform and email services may store or process general website and correspondence data on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. By submitting the contact form on this website you acknowledge that the information you provide may be handled overseas. We take reasonable steps to ensure these providers apply appropriate security and privacy protections.

Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This includes access controls, secure and reputable service providers, and limiting access to people who need it to do their work. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data breaches

If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to any individual whose information we hold, we will assess it promptly and, where required, notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme. Where the breach involves information held under a client or government contract, we will also notify that client or agency in accordance with the contract.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, or for as long as we are required to keep it by law or by contract. Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are retained for a reasonable period and then deleted.

Accessing and correcting your information

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable period. In limited circumstances we may decline a request, in which case we will tell you why in writing.

Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, contact us using the details below and we will investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may refer the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. The current version is always available on this page, and the date it was last updated appears at the bottom.
